State Department Names Five Chinese Media Outlets as Foreign Missions in U.S.

WASHINGTON—The Trump administration is heightening scrutiny of China’s significant condition-owned media retailers in the U.S., designating them as overseas missions, in a further effort and hard work to rein in Chinese government exercise.

The State Office claimed Tuesday that the U.S. functions of 5 Chinese information organizations—Xinhua News Company, China Radio Worldwide, China International Television Community and the distributors of China Each day and People’s Daily—will be deemed overseas missions.
